I’M ALLISON GROSS.
My wellness journey began when I was nine.
As a child, I had an obsession with food and eating — more was never enough, and being full was never a reason to stop. That kind of behavior took a toll on my weight. I was a 4’7” third grader and already 103 pounds.
While it seemed like I was just a chubby kid, I was on a trajectory for a very unhealthy life.
But I was oblivious….at least until a group of children teased me for my round belly. It was then that I realized that I didn’t have control over my relationship with food. After wiping away my tears, I decided to make a change, but I couldn’t do it on my own. So I asked my mom to take me to a dietitian where I “relearned” how to eat.
I established a balanced relationship with food and reclaimed my health by making changes that turned into lifelong habits.
This personal transformation is what led me to pursue a career in nutrition. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, I received my masters in nutrition from NYU and completed my dietetic internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
As my career progressed, it pained me to see people suffer from diet relapse, major weight fluctuations, and the cycle of yo-yo dieting. I created The 4Q Method to end all that.
I want to help others achieve long-lasting personal health instead of chasing their goals with short-term diets. The 4Q Method is a product of more than 20 years of personal sustained weight loss and over a decade of educational, clinical, and private practice experience.
